Awale Olad was first elected as a Camden councillor in 2010. He was the project chair for the Bourne Estate redevelopment project for 7 years, helping deliver one of the UK’s most successful social housing programmes. Since 2021, he has chaired the Culture and Environment Committee, focusing the committee’s work on tackling road safety issues, climate change, air quality, community services, and policing. Awale also chaired the COVID-19 Cross-Party Panel, which established strategies to resolve long-term structural problems that Covid exposed. Awale lives in Holborn with his family.
