Andrew Dismore’s letter in the CNJ: I am stepping down as AM

I THOUGHT you would like to know that after representing Camden as Labour London Assembly member for nine years (and a total of 39 years in elective office) the time has come for me to retire from front-line politics, so I am standing down at the May elections.

Even so, I am writing to explain my support for Sadiq Khan as Mayor of London and Anne Clarke as my successor as Assembly Member.

As I like to think I have been, so both of them are great supporters of Camden’s many diverse communities.

Anne, is also committed to working with local people and campaigns, as she has as a Barnet councillor for Child’s Hill. Anne is a governor of two local schools and has a reputation for being a hard working and responsive councillor.

During the pandemic, Anne helped establish a local food bank and is a regular volunteer with a Camden night shelter.

I firmly believe that with Sadiq and Anne in City Hall, Camden will be well served by these two excellent representatives.

Andrew Dismore
London Assembly Member for Barnet & Camden (2012-2021)
