Anne Clarke’s letter for the CNJ: It’s vital we re-elect Sadiq Khan

ON Tuesday I had the pleasure of visiting the Fairfield Playcentre in Camden Town, who do fantastic and vital work with children and young people.

I was there with Sadiq Khan as part of his manifesto launch, a manifesto that puts the environment, and tackling pollution and climate change at its heart.

I first got involved in politics because of my children. I was a volunteer with Sure Start, a service that gave me so much support as a young mother, and am still a governor at my children’s school in Camden and a Barnet primary.

I know just how much early support matters to parents, carers and children. It is vital that we support our children’s future, and protecting our environment is critical to this.

This is why Sadiq has pledged £50million to his Green New Deal, to invest in long-term solutions for our environment. This includes more than 170,000 green jobs if re-elected as mayor, including jobs in electrifying buses, in solar energy and district energy.

It is vital we re-elect Sadiq and vote Labour on all ballots in May, for a greener, cleaner London.
